Venus Airlines

Venus Airlines was a charter airline from Greece that operated from 1992 until 1996. (Do not confuse with Venus Airlines based in the USA 1)

Company History

Venus Airlines was set up in 1992 and began operations in April 1993 using McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft for charter flights from Scandinavia and Germany to Greece. During the 1994 tourist season, the McDonnell Douglas MD-87 was received and also the Boeing 757-200.

Venus Airlines suffered because of organizational problems, with the flights being late on many occasions and the lack of punctuality hurt the airline's reputation among tour operators. By the 1995/96 season operations had been reduced and the B757s were no longer in service, They had been replaced with older Boeing 727-200 aircraft alongside the MD-80s.

But that was to be the last season, since tour operators began to cancel contracts and by the end of 1996 it was all over for Venus Airlines.
