Utah Stories is an online and print-based alternative news source covering the greater Salt Lake City area.
History
Utah Stories is a daily news publication that covers local issues in the state of Utah, primarily focused on the Salt Lake Valley. It is especially focused on economic concerns and the growth of industry at the expense of local merchants. Part of its mission statement is to, "help protect local business when special interest, government or corporate power, come to assume control."
The publication was originally founded by Richard Markosian as an outlet for discussion on the destruction of various historic sites in Salt Lake City. Utah Stories soon grew to a weekly publishing routine and is now a daily provider of news and local-interest articles in Utah.
The Other Side
One of Utah Stories's regular features is entitled "Salt Lake City's Other Side." These articles GeneRally attempt to reveal an aspect of Utah culture that is neglected and claims to offer, "stories and opinions you would never hear from the mainstream media."
Circulation
Utah Stories has an online circulation of 9,700 unique monthly visitors and distributes thousands of copies of "The Other Side" free of charge in The Downtown Salt Lake City area.
Submissions
In addition to its staff of regular columnists, Utah Stories openly solicits and compensates for articles from the public.
