Upload Robots
Upload Robots is a free file sharing application owned, run and created by David Merfield and Nick Cammarata. Upload Robots is financed by the subscriptions of its paying members. It is known for lack of advertisements across the site for free (and Pro) accounts, in contrast to MediaFire, Rapidshare or Photobucket . Launched this fall, Upload Robots is already one of the largest file-sharing sites with thousands of users.
Usage
Users of the site are allotted 4 GB of storage space with a free account and 120 GB with a Pro Account. The uploaded file(s) are given a unique encrypted URL, allowing for secure file sharing. Some uploaded files allow for on-site previewing and editing. Users may also upload files directly to the site without logging in. However, this is option is highly unsafe due to the lack of encryption and security. Files are indefinitely stored on the site, although there have been reports of file deletion due to server crashes.
Features
Features of Upload Robots include a 4 GB storage space and an allowance of 10 MB per file and instant on-site file previewing and sharing. In August 2009, the service began offering paid Upload Robots Pro Accounts, which allow users more storage space (120 GB) and larger file uploads (maximum: 10 GB)
Reception
Uploadrobots has been reviewed by several online sources including macstories.com and feedmyapp.com. It has quickly grown in popularity due to its recent beta release in September 2009
