UK Webcam Map

The UK Webcam Map is a Google maps-based website depicting webcam images from across the UK. Originally made to map live and controllable webcams, the focus switched to map cameras displaying an image that refreshes regularly, as this can be added to Google Maps markers, allowing views across the UK to be seen easily from one page.

The UK Webcam Map makes no money and has no advertising, being purely designed to provide a service that wasn't previously available. The concept of the map is to allow the general public to add their own webcams, allowing content to be driven by the user and thus Providing a UK Webcam Map for the UK People!

Due to its user-driven content, the site is growing fast with additional features being added regularly. It now shows daily weather symbols from the Met Office to allow comparison between the predicted weather and what the webcams show. Over time, areas will have statistics on how often the predicted weather is accurate, allowing the weather forecast to be better interpreted for various place across the UK.

It is a project created by Beats! Design - an Edinburgh-based design company and was created in August 2007.
