Turn-off
Turn-offs are things or events that decrease a person's [...] arousal. These can either be observed by the person during, or more often, before the [...] act, or suddenly enter the person's thoughts. Hence, turn-offs May Be either physical or psychological in origin. The term is intended to be the opposite of "turn on".
Examples of typical turn-offs:
- Financial or personal problems such as debt or mental illness
- Stress
- Performing taboo activities
- Sudden discovery of body hair (either due to hirsutism or lack of shaving)
- Speech disorders (eg. Stammering)
- Physical imperfections (eg. birthmarks)
- Piercings and/or tattoos
- Body odor
- Body weight (either overweight or underweight)
Turn-offs are not same for all persons. For example, while someone will lose all [...] desire as soon as he discovers that his partner has a birthmark or excessive hair growth on her/his body, someone might be apathetic or find it to be a turn on.
Additionally, turn-offs are not necessarily attributes of the person being observed. People may turn themselves off if they consider their own attributes to be sexually unappealing.
