Trinity Episcopal School New Orleans
Trinity Episcopal School is a school located in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans, LA. It was founded in 1960 by Ms. Edith Aiken for the purpose of educating young people. Today Trinity educates people from Pre-Kindergarten to 8th Grade. It is in affiliation with Trinity Episcopal Church and Les Enfants.
Background
Trinity is a school of tradition founded on the principles of being "Gentle, Generous, Truthful, Kind, and Brave" the students there grow up in a close nit family atmosphere. Their motto is "Challenging the Intellect, Nourishing the Spirit, Celebrating Community." Every day students start at 8:05 by going to chapel services held in the church. The uniforms were instated in 2007.
Academics
Students in all grade levels are placed in one of two home room classes. In lower grade levels these classes are where one do the majority of their learning. In Middle School fifth and six grade have the same teachers and seventh and eighth grade have the same which allows for a personal relationship to develop. The students start French in Pre-Kindergarten, then in fifth grade are allowed to choose between French or Spanish, and they keep the same teachers until high school.
Trinity is well known for their rigorous academics, and especially for memory maps, which is done by the Eighth grade class each year where they draw and label the entire world by memory.
Traditions
Trinity is known for its traditions. Wether it be Pink Party, Lessons and Carols, Olympics, Biography Day, the Syncopated Bunny, Arbor Day, Valentine's Day Chapel, Poetry Day, The fourth and 8th grade play and so much more. Students are always doing something.
Grading System
Students in the middle school are graded on a "A" — "F" basis. While lower school students are graded by a 1-5 on each report card.
Sports
All grades must take P.E.. Once in 5th grade, students are allowed to participate in after school sports which included volleyball, soccer, tennis, baseball, cross country, track, softball, flag football, and basketball.
