Trent Johnston (TV personality)
Trent Johnston (born March 17, 1977) is an American television personality known for his appearance on 7 Little Johnstons on TLC, starring his family, which has run for 17 seasons since 2015. Johnston has achondroplasia and is married to Amber Johnston, with whom he has five children also with achondroplasia.
Early life
Johnston was born in Forsyth, Georgia to Mary Alice and Pete Johnston, and has a sister, Heidi, along with a deceased brother. He became an Eagle Scout in 1994 and graduated from high school after five years. That same year, he met his future wife at a Little People of America conference, later eloping in 1998. He received a certificate in Applied Horticulture/Horticulture Operations, General from Middle Georgia State University.
Career
Johnston worked as a grounds supervisor on-campus at Clayton State University from 2016 to 2021. He also briefly worked as a salesman at an auto dealership, with his son, Jonah.
7 Little Johnstons
In 2014, he and his wife, Amber, were approached by TLC about producing a show about his family. The reality show, 7 Little Johnstons, would premiere with a one-hour special in 2015 and continue to run for 17 seasons. The show stars Johnston's family, navigating daily life as the largest family of people with achondroplasia. The show is still running as of 2026.
Personal life
Johnston married Amber Johnston in 1998, with whom he has five children: Jonah and Liz, biological children, and Anna, Alex and Emma, adopted children. In 2024, Liz gave birth to his first granddaughter, Leighton.
In 2025, he revealed he has brain tissue damage, with his brain resembling that of an 80-year-old, potentially a signifier of multiple sclerosis. He also suffers from sleep apnea.
