History

Treepot Media's films and collaborations have screened at festivals, won awards, and continue to be enjoyed by audiences around the world.

Treepot Film Festival

The company also sponsored and ran a series of more than 150 films at 10 screenings of Ottawa-based and Canadian films which took place from 2011-2014 at independent cinemas and parks in the Ottawa area. These screenings, called the Treepot Film Festival evolved into the Ottawa Canadian Film Festival in 2015.

Treepot Cliffhanger

The Treepot Cliffhanger was a collaborative feature-film project where 5 directors to create chapters of a cinematic chain-letter. The resulting chapters were shown back-to-back at the Mayfair Theatre in 2014.

Treepot Spark

Introduced in 2025, Treepot Spark is a collection of initiatives designed to support creativity and collaboration among filmmakers through publishing artist interviews, organizing screenings and meetups, and SparkForward essays primarily featured on the film613 blog.

Film613

Originally launched as a component of the OCan, The film613 blog was retained by Jith Paul upon his departure from the festival. Relaunched under Treepot Media in 2025, film613 continues to support community-building with film reviews and articles with a strong focus on local and Canadian content.
