Thuvacode Siddique
Thuvacode Siddique is an Indian politician and the General Secretary of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee. He is also the Chief Editor of the monthly magazine Progressive India.
Early life
T. Siddique was born to Kasim and Nafisa on June 1, 1974. He completed his basic education in Pantheeramkavu High School and Zamorin's Guruvayurappan College and completed his Bachelor of Commerce from St. Joseph's College, Devagiri and Bachelor of Law from Government Law College, Calicut.
Political career
Siddique started his political career right from his student days at St. Joseph's College, Devagiri (1991–94) as a political activist for the Kerala Students Union in which he served as Unit Secretary, President of Kerala Students Union and also was elected as the College Chairman during the final year of his course.
Later on during his course of study at Government Law College, Calicut (1995–97) he was again elected as the Chairman (1995) and also served as Unit General Secretary(1996) and Unit President(1997) of the Kerala Students Union.
He was the Senate Member of University of Calicut from 1997-2000. He has also served in the Indian Youth Congress at various local mandalams.
In 2002, he was elected as Secretary of Indian Youth Congress of Kerala in Kundhamangalam constituency and subsequently until 2007 he served as The State Vice President of Indian Youth Congress, Kerala.Consequently, he was elected as the State President (2007-2009) of Indian Youth Congress, Kerala.
As a reflection of his political activism during 1997 – 2000 The Kerala Students Union won the University of Calicut Syndicate and Union breaking a monopoly that has been in existence for many years. He has represented the Indian National Congress across various local as well as national arenas. His contemplations on “Problems and Perspectives of DPEP (District Primary Education Programme) presented at a camp organized by The Communist Party sponsored Students Federation of India in the presence of prominent leaders like Satheeshan Pacheni left the leaders as well as the audience spellbound. He was also among the leading participants in the "Yuvajana Yathra" lead by K. P. Anilkumar, the State President of the Indian Youth Congress of Kerala.
Personal life
Siddique is married to Naseema, a Lecturer in Physics. They have two children. Siddique was born into a Muslim family, and continues in that faith.
