Thunder in the Valley Games

Thunder In the Valley Games is an annual sporting event put on by Michigan Sports Unlimited that brings people with disabilities together to compete in variety of sporting events in a format similar to that of the Paralympics.

History

The Thunder in the Valley Games was founded by Michigan Sports Unlimited Inc. in the year of 1998 as an annual event for the physically disabled and as a fundraiser of the organization. Proceeds from Thunder in the Valley Games will be used to help Michigan Sports Unlimited, Inc.

Games Structure

Each year the games take place on the campus of Saginaw Valley State University. As part of Saginaw Valley State University sponsorship of the games the university offors on compus housing for athletes during the games. The games take place during the summer lasting a total of four days starting in Thursday and ending with an awords ceromoney of Sunday.

The entire torch itself is the basic standard for the Olympics. The handle has two parts. First it is a T and a V for Thunder in the Valley. It is also a lightning bolt (the visual representation of thunder) striking a valley. The Flame is in the shape of the lower Peninsula with an accent in the Saginaw area. The stars and stripes help round out the logo and also connect it to the USA.
