Thierry Nijimbere

Thierry Nijimbere is a Burundian born on November 13, 1993. He is currently based in Germany and pursuing his Bachelors degree in Computer Science since 2023.

Early Life

He was born and raised in a modest family in the Northern quarters of Bujumbura called Kinama. His father's name is Polycarpe Nikwigize, and his mother is Jeanine Butoyi. He is the first-born and have four (4) siblings, three sisters and one brother: Solange Niyubahwe, Belyse Niyongabo, Dina Munezero and Mika Nikwigize.

Leadership journey

Throughout his youthful age, in his twenties to be more precise, Thierry has actively taken part in community services. He attended english clubs where he got the basics skills of the English language, engaged in creating more for his fellow countrymen. In his opinion, English, as an international tool of communication, was the language filled with opportunities, some of which took him to Germany, where his is currently doing his studies.

Based on his leadership activeness, he was able to gain international travel opportunities as as he flew almost every three months from 2013 for exchange programs in countries like Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya and Nigeria. Most remarkably, Thierry attended a prestigious Model African Union, a simulation of African Heads of States working on resolutions focused in improvement of living conditions of the african child. The 5 day - long event trained the participants in areas including Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Diplomacy and Public Speaking.

Professional Life

As a young man, Nijimbere still have a long way to go in the professional journey. So far what can be recorded as achievement in the professional area, is his involvement in blogging community Yaga Burundi from 2016 to 2021, where he served as a freelancer writing blogposts that yielded social change in his homeland Burundi.

He also served in Green Production Corporate, a youth-led start-up that influenced the country to get rid of polythene plastic bags and initiate the use of biodegradable packaging for the enviroment conservation. Thierry worked here from march 2019 to November 2022, as Marketing and Communication Officer. During that span of time, 300+ million of plastic bags were reported to be replaced.

Education Background

As for his education, Thierry did his high school studies in science at the Municipal Lycee of Cibitoke. And did his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management at Bujumbura International University from 2016 to 2019.

Although he studied business-related undergraduate studies in his homeland, Thierry has always been interested in programming. He developed different websites for small businesses using WordPress templates due to limited coding skills. This passion for IT pushed him to study computer science upon his arrival in Germany.
