The Walk (play)
The Walk is a play written by Catherine Cunningham-Huston. It was written such that it can be performed in one hour. The play requires an eight-member cast. Characters in the play include Catherine Anne, a nun who is involved with activism; Stephanie, a writer who suffers from neuroticism; Peter, an unemployed film director; and Celestine, a woman from Nigeria who is a human trafficking survivor. The plot follows Catherine Anne, Stephanie, and Peter as they attempt to write a play AbOUT human trafficking in its relation to [...] slavery. The Walk was performed at the Ottawa Fringe Festival in 2011, where it was co-produced by Moon Dog Theatre and Persons Against the Crime of Trafficking in Humans (PACT) Ottawa. Natalie Fraser-Purdy served as the theatre director for these performances, which took place at Venue 1 of the Arts Court Theatre. When Andrew Kooman's She Has a Name was performed in Ottawa in 2012, it was compared to The Walk; both plays are about [...] slavery and human trafficking and both focus on two principal characters.
