The Moans
The Moans are an American punk rock band from Sacramento, California. Formed in 2011, the band has released several self-produced demos, one full length album, a 7" split record, and appeared on numerous compilations & samplers. Following suit with other Sacramento horror themed bands, the Groovie Ghoulies and the Cramps, the Moans weave comedic lyrics AbOUT science fiction and scary movies into poppy punk rock dance-a-alongs. The Moans have played during Supreme Pro Wrestling matches, toured all over California and the south west, and have become a fixture at the annual Danny Secretion's Lame [...] Birthday Bashes benefiting the American Cancer Society. Having been featured on radio shows and podcasts like 6 Feet Under and Real Punk Radio has helped reach new fans across the globe, recently being added to the Monster Zero Records distribution catalog in Europe and Waterslide Records in Japan.
History
All three members played in a Ramones tribute karaoke/cover band called "the Shitty Ramones" with members of the Dumb Fox and 9:00 News from Lodi & Stockton, CA. From the disbanding of the of that group, the Moans were formed with each member playing a different instrument than they do in their current bands.
MusicAL style
Using the tagline "Downstrokes & 16th Notes" their musical style ranges from the use of straight forward rock n' roll standards to pop-fused three chord punk rock. All of the lyrics center on themes dealing with horror & sci-fi elements. The members tend to cite most of the same influences that drive the band; Riverdales, Lillingtons, the Queers, and of course The Ramones.
