Panshkuroni Konkaboti () is a 2017 Indian Bengali-language drama film directed by Bhaskar Banerjee and produced by the Dreams Entertainment. It is based on Eva Khashnobish's Bengali novel of the same name.
Plot Outline
The sojourn of life is a sheer deception. Every single moment of the expedition is pre-destined, but it keeps surprising the individual with unprecedented turns. The narration “The Lonesome Lass” is nothing but an anecdote of the truest significance of time, life and seclusion. In a simple premise, the story proves that everything, in life, is perishable. The cynicism of destiny will slaughter even the innocent dreams, the cheerful potentials and the free flow of existence. The story has murmured the melody of a young soul, whose life was apparently blissful and candid until she stepped into the lives of her elder sister in a remote village. Tiya, the protagonist, gradually starts witnessing the atrocities of life as her elder sister and her husband unitedly starts grinding her with disgraceful abuses. The tender soul inevitably turns into a victim of patriarch domination and surprisingly her elder sister never reduce the burden of pain from her rather she instigates the exploitation to satiate a perverted pleasure. While beginning its journey, the intrigue vividly elucidates how Tiya, passes her days just like a worn out appliance that does everything to run the daily course of her sister’s family. Her sister, on other hands, is somehow a solemn harvest of patriarch convention. Thus, most of the year, she remains pregnant and leaves the responsibilities on the shoulder of Tiya. The director has woven another pivotal character, Bula, who appears to be a stark contrast of the poor soul. Bula, Tiya’s neighbor, and only mate, narrates the story and as her life is embraced with compassion and love; Tiya’s distress gets more prominent in her eyes. Life takes its turns, and Bula gets married to her love and leaves the village to start her new life, after accomplishing her education.
The catastrophe gets revealed when, after years, Bula returns to the village and witnesses how a vicious stroke has shattered Tiya’s existence. What happens to her? Meanwhile, Tiya’s elder sister died giving birth to another child and as an inevitable consequence, her brother-in-law married her. Even, marriage, the holy and sacred bond, becomes a chain of confinement to her. Still, she wakes up to take the burdens of a family that never loves her, never showers compassion, never takes her existence cordially and goes to bed with loads of shattered dreams, crushed innocence, and compressed hope to be loved. Tiya does not only convey the torment, the despondency of her destiny rather she voices the isolation, and the futility of countless lives, who like her are being slaughtered under the wrath of disdain. The story testifies these lonely souls will be there under the ashes of brutality and amidst the mist of utter solitude until every hearts love to value generosity.
