Taves (singer)
Toluwani Ayomide Aluko (born June 23, 2003), known professionally as Taves (; stylized as taves), is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Born and raised in Port Harcourt, he has contributed to the progression of African's R&B/Soul.
Early life
Toluwani Ayomide Aluko was born and raised in Port Harcourt. His interest in music began when his father started playing Aṣa's songs.
Career
On May 6, 2021, Taves released his official debut single, "Betterment". That same year, in June, he released the single "5 AM Dreaming". The song was produced by Khail. On July 1, 2021, Taves released his debut extended play, 18.
In late May 2023, Taves signed with Atlantic Music Group, and on June 22, 2023, he released the single "Eleyele" under the label. In January 2024, he released the official music video for "Eleyele".
On March 8, 2024, Taves released the singles "Bodija" and "Folake". The music video for "Folake" was released on March 22. On June 14, 2024, Taves released the single "A Million Things". The song was produced by P.Priime. On July 10, 2024, Taves released the song "In The City", produced by TSB.
On July 12, 2024, Taves released his second extended play, Are You Listening?. "Folake" became the lead single from the EP, and "A Million Things" and "In the City" became the second and third singles, respectively. The extended play featured a sole guest appearance from Bnxn. On September 18, 2024, Taves was featured on L.A.X's "Let Me Know" alongside Ayo Maff, with an accompanying official music video.
On September 26, 2024, Taves was featured on Ladipoe's "Compose", released through Mavin Records. The song debuted at number 20 on the Nigeria TurnTable Top 100, marking Taves' first appearance on the chart. The official music video was released on October 26, 2024, directed by Ademola Falomo. In November, Taves released the single "Adanna" featuring Hyce, Brown Joel, and BoyPee.
On February 21, 2025, Taves was featured on Yarden's "Ifeoma", and on August 22, 2025, Taves released the joint singles "Way2Yung" and "6ways" under W2Y.
