Syed Iqtidar Husain
VICE ADMIRAL SYED IQTIDAR HUSAIN,(Hilal-e-Imtiaz & Sitara-e-Basalat) Vice Chief of Naval Staff & Chief of Staff, Pakistan Navy,
Born in ALIGARH INDIA in 1935. His family settled in lahore at the time of partition in 1947. He is trained with British and Austrailian navies as midshipman. He won the best academic medal in the pre trade training school in quetta and then was sent to British Naval Academy, Darthmouth, England. He took ACTIVE part in both wars in 1965 & 1971. He was Operation Officer of The Famous "Dwarka Operation".
He was a thorough gentleman and officer known for his discipline and honesty. During his service held various key staff and operational assignments, such as DG Joint Staff Headquarters, DCNS Personel & Training, COMKAR, Additional Secretary - Navy, Ministry of Defense, before promoting to the rank of vice admiral.
He is a graduate from National DeFence College, Islamabad. He was chairman Task Force for Restructuring Navy and Managing Director, Karachi Shipyard & Engineering works. The Bhutto government replaced him as CNS by Admiral Mansoor ul Haq.
He is married with a son and a daughter.
