Swarup Choudhury
Swarup Choudhury is Vice President of IBM’s Global Core Banking unit, a significant part of Global Financial Services Sector, the largest industry within IBM. In this capacity he oversees the company’s strategy, solutions portfolio, and business results with the 3,000 banks that IBM serves worldwide & helps them in their transformational aspirations & growth. He is also responsible for supporting the Financial Services Customers in the Emerging Markets to embrace new business models & game changing plays to establish competitive positioning in their respective markets.
Swarup Choudhury is MBA Finance with significant experience in various business sectors like the Financial Services, Manufacturing & Telecom & Communications Sector. In the last 27 years, Swarup has worked on several challenging assignments, which has given him excellent exposure and insight into diverse business environment & leveraged Technology & Business Strategy to manage & support large teams in their Business Transformation. He has been instrumental in building strong teams & developing several Leaders quite of few of them are now in leading positions in the Industry.
Immediately prior to taking on The current role Swarup was a key member of the of IBM’s Corporate Strategy team in IBM’s Corporate Head Quarters in Armonk, USA, working on critical new business directions including evolving game changing strategies for developed markets & emerging markets.
Swarup Choudhury held several senior executive positions in IBM Asia Pacific ranging from 1) Establishing IBM’s Financial Services Business in Asean/SA as the leader amongst all business units & crafting several innovative deals & helping clients in their business aspirations.
2) Established IBM’s System & Technology team in India/SA to the number 1 position.3) Working on critical projects ranging from internal organisational building metrics to developing business strategies & products as also assisting in streamlining some of the operational processes at the IBM’s Asean/SA Head Quarters in Singapore.4)Building and developing robust Sales Organization in India/South Asia which has enabled IBM’s dominance in several business units i.e. Financial Services, Telecom & Communications, and the Manufacturing & Industrial Sector.
Prior to joining IBM Swarup worked for the HSBC Group in India & UK.
Worked in Various capacities starting in Banking Operations and thereafter in Corporate Banking, Merchant Banking, Corporate Finance & Investment Banking and Payment & Cash Management assisting the bank on several business development & new projects initiatives in India & UK.
