Sunnshine
Sunnshine was formed in 1992 by former Buzzov*en guitarist Raymond "Buddy" Apostolis. The Original line up began with lead vocalist Joseph DeLeon, bassist Joshua Kayer, guitarist William "Bill" Storms, and former "Four Walls Falling" drummer Kenny Wagner. The band was GeneRally considered to fall within the Stoner Metal genre. However, at the time stoner metal or stoner rock had not yet been categorized making Sunnshine one of the founding fathers of this genre of metal/hard rock music, along with stoner cohorts Kyuss, Sleep, and Fu Manchu. Sunnshine's raw powerful vocals and dirgy wall of sound riffs became the bands trademark sound and opened the door for other bands of this type to follow in their footsteps.
In 1997 Bill Storms moonlighted in Richmond, VA's Alabama Thunderpussy as their bass player. In 1998 Kenny Wagner left the band and was replaced by drummer Kevin White (now a member of Throttlerod). In 1999 "Buddy" Apostolis left the band after a battle with [...] addiction and was replaced by guitarist Jeff Srsic. In 2000 Sunnshine produced their first release "Engender" on Underdogma Records. In 2002 Bill Storms left the band and was replaced by guitarist Chris Mcphereson. Sunnshine broke up in 2003 ending a decade of brilliant songwriting. Although Sunnshine may have paved the way for many bands that followed they never received the credit they deserved and did not release an album with a major label.
Their first full length Record No More Forever was released by Swell Creek Records 2 years after their demise in November of 2005 and includes demo recordings from as early as 1995 as well as several tracks recorded for Maverick Records at the able hands of Engineer/Producer "Evil" Joe Barresi (Tool, Powerman 5000, Hole, Weezer) and recorded in Ventura, CA at the infamous Sound City Studios.
