Suki Mee (Malaysia)

Suki Mee is the first Orang Asli registered town planner in Malaysia. He is also a former Perak assistant director of Town and Country Planning Department (Jabatan Perancangan Bandar Dan Desa Perak).

Education

He studied urban planning at Universiti Teknologi Mara (Institut Teknologi Mara) and further his study in bachelor degree in urban planning at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He made history when become the first Orang Asli graduated in Bachelor Degree (Hons) of Urban Planning from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1987. He then further his study at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, where he obtain his Master of Philosopy in Development Science. He is currently furthering his study at Ph.D level at Universiti Sains Malaysia.

He has written and presented few papers related to Orang Asli. His book's title "Orang Asli Perak; Perayaan Jis Pai & Adat Perkahwinan" was launched by YB Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, Minister of Plantation Industries & Commodities Malaysia" on 11 July 2009.

Career

He is registered town planner and currently director of Digi Planners (Urban Planning Consultant firm), a director in a few development and construction companies and chairman of Yoap Berhad (Yayasan Orang Asli Perak). Since 1 July 2009, he was appointed as the chairman of LGM Properties Corporation (2 years), a subsidiary company of Malaysia Rubber Board.

.He is also a United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation or UPKO's Tanjung Malim division chief (one of the first four UPKO divisions in Perak)

He is Deputy President of Peninsular Malaysia Orang Asli Graduate Association (PSOA) and Deputy Chairman of Orang Asli Chamber of Commerce(DOA)
