Sujith kuttan

Sujith Kuttan (Malayalam: സുജിത്ത് കുട്ടന്‍) (DOB: 29 April 1992) is an emerging talent in the Indian track and field arena. He was named the “Fastest Boy of Kerala” in the year 2011 and has won a bronze at the National Games held in Ranchi in February, 2011. He is the son of ace athletic duo Murali Kuttan and Mercy Kuttan, the first couple from India to win Asian Games individual medals.

Career

Sujith was born in Jamshedpur where his parents were working for Tata Steel. Sujith began his career at the age of 16 as a High Jumper and later switched his attention into the 100 metres where he has excelled. He was the National Junior Champion in the year 2011 and clocked his personal best time of 10.62 seconds during the semi-finals of the National Games held in Feb,2011 where he went on to win Bronze in 100m and 4x100m relay.

Personal life

Sujith Kuttan is the son of former Olympian Mercy Kuttan, who represented India at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and Late Murali Kuttan, a former 400 metres National champion. He was coached by his parents and had been training under "Mercy Kuttan Athletics Academy" in Kochi. He is currently pursuing his XII from Thevara Sacred Heart HSS, Kochi.

• Won a bronze for 100 metres at the National Games held in Ranchi in Feb, 2011.

• Won gold in 100m (new meet record), 200m in under 18 boys category in the “KERALA STATE Inter Club Athletic Meet, KOCHI” in 2009

• Won the 100m and 1000m medley relay in boys under 18 category in the “National South Zone Athletic Meet held in Kochi” in 2009

• Won the 100m and 200m gold (new meet record set) in the “Ernakulum District Athletic Meet” in 2009

• Won 100m (new meet record), 200m gold in the “Kerala State Junior Athletic Meet held at Kochi” in 2009

• Won bronze in 100m and gold in 1000m medley relay in the National Junior Athletic Meet held in Warangal (AP) in 2009

• Won gold in 100m (new meet record) in the Ernakulam Revenue Athletic Meet in 2009

• Won gold in 100m run and 4x100m relay in the Kerala State School Meet in 2009

• Won silver in 100m, 4x100m relay and won bronze in 200m in the National School Games held at Amritsar (Punjab) in 2009

• Won silver in 100m in the KERALA STATE Inter Club Athletic Meet, KOCHI in 2010

• Won gold in 100m and in 4x100m relay in the Boys under 20 category of the National South Zone Athletic Meet held at Bangalore in 2010

• Won gold in 200m (new meet record set) and bagged silver in 100m in the Boys under 20 category of the Ernakulum District Athletic Meet in 2010

• Won gold in 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay (new meet record) in the ERNAKULAM REVENUE Athletic Meet in the year 2010

• Won gold in 100m in the State School Athletic Meet in 2010

• Won gold in 100m and 4x100m relay in the Junior National Athletic Meet in the year 2010
