Stansfield College
Stansfield College, founded in 1993 is a private higher education institution. Through its collaboration with the University of London, Stansfield offers undergraduate degrees and diplomas in a range of academic disciplines which includes Law, the Humanities and the EMFSS suite of programmes with specialisations in Accounting, Business & Management, Banking & Finance, Economics, Mathematics & Economics and the Social Sciences.
In addition, the College has also expanded its range of programmes to include several university foundation awards including Certificate and Diploma programmes that allow students to ProgresS academically at Stansfield or to gain admissions into overseas universities. The College also provides postgraduate diplomas and executive development courses and seminars.
The College has over 500 students with an international student body with students from over 30 countries studying at its campus.
History
Stansfield College, previously known as "Stansfield School of Business" was founded in 1993 by Mr Kannappan Chettiar as a sole proprietorship and approved by the Ministry of Education, Singapore as a private institution on 15 July 1993. Mr Chettiar started Stansfield College from humble beginnings with a loan of $20,000. With a strong determination to provide an equal educational opportunities, Mr Chettiar hired 6 British expatriates in 1993 from the UK, 4 of whom had Ph.D qualifications to teach in Singapore (an approach unheard of especially in 1993 from a private institution). This resulted in a rapid and consistent expansion for the school over the subsequent years. Since 1995, Stansfield College has been recognised by the University of London and its lead college, London School of Economics (LSE) to conduct the Diploma in Economics Programme in Singapore. It also has recognition to conduct the Diploma in Law programme.
In 2002, the College’s Chief Learning Officer & Chairman, Mr. Kannappan Chettiar was selected as one of the Top 10 Entrepreneurs of the Year. A Rotary Singapore-ASME award, it is the oldest award in Singapore that honours entrepreneurs who have established and sustained a successful and profitable business. In 2002, Stansfield was also awarded the 'Enterprise 50' and ranked no 32 amongst the most enterprising organizations. The award recognizes the top 50 organisations in Singapore for its enterprising spirit. In 2003, the Ministry of Education, under a new revised guideline, approved the change of name from Stansfield School of Business to Stansfield College. In the same year, the College was awarded the Singapore Quality Class for Private Educational Organisations in recognition of its educational excellence in Singapore.
In 2003, Stansfield was ranked No. 15 on the Singapore Enterprise 50 awards. The College’s Chairman was also nominated as a finalist for the Phoenix Award in recognition of his entrepreneurial determination and strong leadership skills in overcoming challenges to grow the business. In 2004, Stansfield was ranked No. 31 on the Singapore Enterprise 50 awards. Its Chairman was selected as one of the top 5 finalists in the SICCI-DBS Indian Entrepreneur of the Year award.
In 2005, Stansfield was ranked No. 38 for the Singapore Enterprise 50 awards and its Chairman was recognised as the SICCI-DBS Indian Entrepreneur of the Year (2005). On 13 September 2005, Stansfield opened its first major campus in India which was attended by Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam as the guest-of-honour. In 2006, Stansfield was ranked No. 43 on the Singapore Enterprise 50 awards and it was also given a special recognition award in 2006 for having maintained the award for 5 years running. With the introduction of the Private Education Act 2009, the entity of Stansfield College Pte Ltd was formed to take over the business of Stansfield College. Stansfield College Pte Ltd has a paid up capital of $2 million.
In 2009, the University of London introduced a framework to formalise its recognition of teaching institutions and Stansfield College is invited to join the framework known as “Teaching Institutions Recognition Framework”. The University has a network of 132 centres which spans 46 countries.

On successful completion of your studies you will be awarded a University of London degree or diploma. The certificate you receive will state that you were registered with the University of London and will include the name of the University of London College or Colleges that conducted the examinations.
