St. Francis Folly
St. Francis' Folly is a fictional building featured in the 1996 Eidos Interactive/Core Design game Tomb Raider, later remade as Tomb Raider Anniversary in 2007 by Crystal Dynamics. Set in Greece, it is GeneRally considered as containing the most favoured levels in both aforementioned games, boasting many puzzles and popular mythical names. These include Damocles, Neptune, Atlas and Thor which in Anniversary were changed (Neptune to Poseidon, Thor to Hephaestus) to conform to the Greek theme. The rooms and their respective puzzles are inspired by the mythical figure they represent, the player having to conquer these to attain four keys to ProgresS further in the game.
Atlas
The god who was fated to literally carry the weight of the world on his shoulders, his legacy within the Folly is to crush intruders with a large fashioned boulder (or in Anniversary, a large iron globe).
Damocles
The Sword of Damocles is a popular tale, telling of a sword precariously hung above an acquaintance's head as a warning. Many swords hang from the ceiling of the room the player walks through, impaling them if they are standing in the wrong place.
Neptune
The Roman god of the sea, he was replaced in Anniversary by his Greek counterpart Poseidon. Featuring long, treacherous channels of water, this was a straightforward yet difficult room to complete. In Anniversary, this was replaced with a water room puzzle.
Thor
The Norse god whose hammer is one of the most famous ICONS in ancient history, he was represented by a massive hammer which the player had to brave possible crushing by. Replaced by Hephaestus - god of technology and craftsmanship - in Anniversary, the hammer still made an appearance but referred to Hephaestus' symbolic hammer and anvil.
