South India Saiva Siddhanta Works Publishing Society Ltd.

The South India Saiva Siddhanta publishing Society Tinnevely Ltd started functioning from the year 1920. Early days, it was established at Tirunelveli. Later it started functioning simultaneously in Madras also. Thiruvarangam Pillai and Nellai Tamil saivites formed this company to publish books on Tamil and Saiva. The Chennai office was taken care by his brother Subbiah Pillai. In the year 1940 Thiruvarangam Pillai died. Then after till 1984, Subbiah Pillai took care of the administration. This publishing house is also called as Kazhagam. While Dravida Munnetraa Kazhagam was formed by Aringar Anna, he had announced publicly that this Kazhagam is called by this name from the year 1920. So the credit for the name Kazhagam goes to this publishing house only.

The standard publishing style of this house has earned a very good name in the publishing field. Books Published on Tamil Sangam Literature, Tirukkural Thelivurai by Mu.Va., Kazhaga Tamil Dictionary, Kazhaga Tamil English Dictionary, Kazhaga English Tamil Dictionary, Thirumanthiram with Ramanatha Pulavar Prose, Thiruvasagam with Ramanatha Pulavar Prose, etc., Subbiah Pillai was honoured by The INDIAN Government with Padmashri award in the year 1967. From 1984 the publishing house is managed by R.Muthukumaraswamy MD. R.Muthukumaraswamy was President of BAPASI, The Booksellers & Publishers Association of South India, which is regularly conducting Chennai Book Fair in the year 2003 to 2005. Devaneya Pavanar is one of the very famous author of this South India Saiva Siddhanta Publishing Society Ltd. M. S. Purnalingam Pillai works was also published through this publishing house.
