South Harmon Institute of Technology (SHIT) is a private experimental college located in Harmon, Ohio, United States. The institution was founded in 2006 by a group of students seeking an alternative to traditional higher education.
History
South Harmon Institute of Technology was created by Bartleby Gaines after being rejected from multiple accredited universities. Initially intended as a institution to satisfy parental expectations, it attracted hundreds of students who had also been denied admission elsewhere.
The college operated out of a repurposed psychiatric facility and developed into a student-driven academic community.
Campus
The campus consists of abandoned institutional buildings converted into classrooms, dormitories, and collaborative learning spaces. The campus operates without a traditional administrative structure.
Academics
