History
Soonr was founded in 2005 by Martin Frid-Nielsen, CEO, Steven Boye, CTO, Lars Gunnersen, VP of engineering and Song Huang, VP of marketing. The four had worked together at Borland in the late 1980s developing innovative products like Sidekick and Quattro PRO. In the 1990s, Martin and Steven were early employees at Netobjects where they developed the Fusion web authoring product, and later Collage for enterprise content management together with several other developers who later became key Soonr employees. In 2001, the team joined enterprise software provider Merant, who acquired the Collage division from NetObjects. At Merant, the team evolved Collage until 2004 when the company was acquired by enterprise change management provider Serena Software for approximately $380M. Funding
After angel funding in 2005, the company closed its initial round of financing in April 2006, led by Intel Capital, and Clearstone Venture Partners. Later investors included Cisco Systems, HighBar Ventures and Presidio Ventures.
Partnerships
Soonr is partnered with Cisco Systems, Hewlett Packard Co, Support.com, Cloudmore and European telecom Telia, which rebrands the service as Telia Skyfiles.
Products
Soonr Workplace enables businesses and teams to store, share, access, search, edit and sync files across platforms with support for more than 800 mobile devices including Android, Blackberry, iPhone and iPad.
Soonr incorporates patented rendering technology and was designed with teams, remote access and security in mind.
