IASO Backup
IASO Backup is a brand of online backup software, designed by IASO Software company for SMBs and enterprises. IASO provides both PC and server backup software, and focuses on scalability and central management in its product development in order to serve the needs of large service provider and enterprise customers. IASO's online backup software covers all types of software, and has native clients for Windows, Unix and Linux. VMware backup is another important functionality. IASO is also adhering to high security standards and encrypts all backup streams.
History
The company derives its name from the Greek mythology, in which Iaso is known as the “Goddess of Recovery” and daughter to Asclepius, the God of Medicine. In the company’s philosophy backup is a mean to an end and not the end itself: the ability to recover from data loss is central to any good backup solution, hence the reference to this ancient Greek goddess. Founded in 2004, IASO grew from an ordinary Backup Service Provider into a software developer, company employing about 50 people with offices in Emmeloord, Netherlands and Minsk, Belarus.
Partners
The company is now selling its online backup software to other service providers. Serving markets in Western and Eastern Europe today, IASO has a considerable market presence in the Netherlands and more than 200 service providers across Europe. In spite of the fact that IASO’s commercial base is mainly in Europe, with distribution partners active in Germany, France, UK and the Nordic region, the company also has partners in Asia, Australia and the United States.
IASO is targeting large service providers that seek to serve large enterprise customer environments, ideally those with many branch offices geographically dispersed.
Overview
IASO is focused on building technology that handles very large datasets, datasets that consist of many files as well as data coming from many remote locations. Consequently, scalability and robustness of the technology are key for IASO. IASO software can run on standard server and storage hardware, because it is very efficient in the way it handles data. IASO can both scale capacity and performance independent of each other, minimizes I/O traffic in order to keep the traffic to the file system low, keeps all metadata on the local client, so that no overhead for querying a central database is needed, scans all directories for every backup and backs up only the changes, synthesizes all changes into a full backup image after every backup, and enables delta restore to keep the data traffic sent over the network to a minimum. Because of its strong technology platform, IASO was able to replace several large Iron Mountain Digital MSP customers in Europe.
