Slayain
Slayain are an Australian rock band, formed in Frankston 2005. The band have been gigging for years
playing with such greats as The Screaming Jets, Airbourne and The Getaway Plan. Their music has been
described as punk/ metal hybrid, a new sound that has come to shock and awe.
- Winners of the cardinia shire battle of the bands in 2007.3 EPs released as of 2010.
- And 100 copies of a 7 track live cd released in Oct. 2010.
- The band is made up of Sebastian Paez (bass/back-up vocals), Peter Dalenga (percussion)
- and Benjamin Wylie(vocals, guitar, songwriting).
History
Sebastian Paez and Benjamin Wylie met at John Paul College, Frankston - in high school
this is where some of the Slayain songs were first created i.e. 'Blackest Heart', 'Pacified Lies'.
They replied to a FlyEr for the local drummer Peter Dalenga - on the only note of
"No Jazz Bands" 'Peter' decided to join the duo, thus creating Slayain.
- Late 2005 they created a 4 track EP entitled 'Pacified Lies' which was widely received
- with their long stream of gigs all over the Mornington Peninsula and extensive jam nites
-
in The Castle, Dandenong.
- Their big break was when they were chosen to perform as the opening act for 'The Screaming jets'
- also 'The Getaway Plan' and 'Airbourne'. The crowd got bigger and bigger, and so did the
- internet media chatter. In 2007 a second EP was released under the name 'Modern Day Revelations'.
- The title track turned out to be 'whispers' which took the mp3 dot com charts by storm.
-
Numerous tracks from both EPs were in the top 10 on various charts and still are today.
- In 2008 a line-up change and break from the scene was taken. In this time the 3 remaining
- 'Slayain' wrote some of their best music. 2 years later they re-entered the studio.
- The new EP is called 'Brace tactics' and will be released later 2011. The symbolism
- behind brace tactics was that when you are AbOUT to fall, how exactly are you going
- to brace yourself? do you have any tactics? What are your brace tactics?
- Currently gigging and finishing off the new EP.
