Slacker and The Man
Slacker and the Man is a weekly podcast featuring two guys from Central Florida who talk AbOUT all things nerdy from Star Trek to comic books to movies. The podcast made its debut in January 2008 inspired by such podcasts as SModcast and the radio show, The Monsters in the Morning. Episodes are usually one hour in length and are available for download every Friday night on their feed at Podbean.
Slacker and the Man
Slacker and the Man has a policy of no real names as several people on the show are employed in government positions under the scrutiny of the public eye.
The nickname Slacker belongs both to the original co-host of the show and his replacement. The original Slacker was so named for his lack of a job, the fact that he still lives with his mother, and his chain smoking. On April 12, 2009 the original Slacker left the show for personal reasons. The mantle of Slacker was passed on to another, who despite the name had a job, doesn't smoke, and proved unpopular. On September 18, 2009, it was announced that the original Slacker would be returning to the show on at least a part-time basis. Slacker 2.0's nickname was changed back to Ryan and is no longer associated with the show.
The Man is the founder of the show. He has a distinctive laugh and strong southern tendencies with a nerdy bent to his personality. He is named for the fact that he was once a law enforcement officer. However in 2009, he resigned from his job. The Man is known for his unhealthy obsession with Adam Baldwin and a strong (unnatural) love of zombies.
Other Co-hosts and Guest Stars
Slacker and the Man has been host to slew of other co-hosts and guest stars. This is usually due to the absence of the Slacker or the whim of the Man.
Teacher Bill is a long time friend of the Man and the original Slacker. He is so named for his career as a high school history teacher. He also holds the title of Biggest Geek on the show as well as Mr.History.
KSV is a member of the geek band, Sci-Fried and the first official 3rd full time host of the show. He also apparently enjoys being orally violated. His name stands for Karaoke Spirit of Vengeance. He's also obsessed with Street Fighter.
Barker is another former member of the Real Tampa Bay Ghostbusters and current member of the Orlando Ghostbusters. His most famous moment is when he was intoxicated, The Man shaved his head. He was also banned from the Ghostbuster Fan forums due to an incident in which he expressed some politically incorrect feelings on the show.
The Dobbs is another lifelong friend of The Man. He harbors a strong hatred for Michael Bay and Family Guy.
Skittles is the first official female part-time cohost of the show.
[...]/Ken is the brother of the original Slacker. He was so named as he was dating a 17 year old when the show launched. Later the nickname was dropped. He also did a small stint as the official stuntman of the show. He is also known for his love of plants.
Gymnast/TiNG is a lifelong friend of the Man. His original moniker came from the fact that he is a gymnastics judge. His name was later named to TiNG due to his obsession with Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Jesus Camp is the cousin of the original Slacker. He currently attends a Christian University pursuing a career in youth ministry.
Liberace/Tourettes is the brother of Jesus Camp and cousin of the original Slacker. He also suffers from Tourette's Syndrome and some not so latent homosexuality.
Holo/Jim is a longtime friend of both The Man and Teacher Bill. He is also the co-host of Slacker and the Man's sister show, Radio Free Junktown. The name Holo is his character from an online Star Wars RPG forum known as the Bounty Hunters Guild(BHG).
Jeff is a friend of Holo and co-host of Radio Free Junktown. For some reason he hates the movie, Batman and Robin which The Man claims is the pinnacle of cinematic achievement.
No-Neck is another lifelong friend of the Man. This former air force redneck is named such due to his short stature and body builder physique which causes him to have a lack of neck.
Kitty is a self-described glamor model fanbabe and the source of Slacker and the Man's main myspace pic. She is also part of Team Fanbabe.
Ana Aesthetic is another geek girl model with a fondness for costumes.
Lantern Rider is the friend and official photographer of Team Fanbabe. His name comes from the fact that he rides a Green Lantern themed motorcycle. His appearance recalls a younger version of "The Rock."
Margie Cox is another geek girl model.
Nova is the second member of Team Fanbabe. She loves to blow bubbles.
Eve is the newest member of Team Fanbabe.
Bert the Stormtrooper is a Transformers Obsessed Puerto Rican who is a member of the Elite 501st and a convention regular. He also operates as a part time sound effects expert for the show.
Autobot Jazz is one of the show's biggest fans and is obsessed with Transformers.
Timelord is a member of the First Coast Busters and host of the podcast, What the Fnord? Discordian Radio. Timelord moonlights as a greaser and is for some unknown reason obsessed with Dr. Who.
The Dobbs is another lifelong friend of The Man. He has proved much more popular than the Slacker 2.0.
Aquafina is the wife of Teacher Bill.
Galacta Chris is a dedicated listener of the show who provides material and questions for the show occasionally.
Scott/Slacker 2.0 proved unpopular with the show's listeners and is no longer associated with the show.
