Situs is a multinational company that provides strategic business solutions for the finance and commercial real estate industries. It is a subsidiary of Stone Point Capital. The company is based in Houston, United States with additional offices in U.S.A, Europe and Asia.
History
In 1931, after the Great Depression James C. Downs, Jr. formed Real Estate Research Corporation (RERC) in Houston, USA. In 1973, RERC published a Real Estate Report, a critical economic and real estate newsletter for the government, businesses, and investors. In 1985, Situs was founded by RERC to provide services outside the Houston area. In 2004, Situs opened an office in London, United Kingdom and in Frankfurt, Germany in 2008. Its Denmark office was founded in 2011. In the same year the company was acquired by Helios AMC, a joint venture between Ranier Partners and Deutsche Bank. In 2012, they acquired the Loan Servicing and Asset Management Business of Deutsche Bank. Situs acquired RERC in 2014 and renamed to Situs RERC. The company was acquired in 2015 by Stone Point Capital.
