The ground has been hosted single Test cricket match in 2002 when South Africa played Bangladesh. The ground has been hosted 21 One Day Internationals, where the first ODI staged in 1998 between South Africa and India. The ground hosted first staged to Twenty20 Internationals when South Africa played against New Zealand in 2012.

South African Graeme Smith became the first man to score a Test century at Diamond Oval when he made 200 against Bangladesh in 2002. It still stands as the highest score seen at the ground. Overall, there are only 2 Test centuries have been scored at the ground.
