Sikat Dance Repertory
S.I.K.A.T. is an acronym for "Sama-samang Iindak, Kakamtin Ang Tagumpay" (Together we dance, to reach success)
Recognized by its repertoire of Philippine contemporary-folk performances, Sikat Dance Repertory is composed of modern youth from diverse bounds of Metro Manila. Mutually tighten by their worship for the Philippine culture to demonstrate the deep meaning dance; as a vital art form and not simply a passion but a big responsibility.
SIKAT Dance Repertory is an umbrella group and the official dance company of OBRA Incorporated.
History
The group had gone a long way since the group was started by just for joining baranggay dance contests since year 2000 (as Buhawi Dance Artists) and formed from a company of different dance groups for public gatherings and city-oriented events (as FTN Dancers of Taguig City). But every year comes with big responsibilities as the group develops youth passion & pushes the art of dancing beyond its margins. The group was re-established on July 2008 marking its distinctive flavor of dance pedagogy.
SIKAT Signature Pieces (Original Created Dances)
Darangan
The first signature dance of Sikat. A contemporarized & creative version of the Muslim (Southern Islands) dance suite.
The word Darangan came from the untold epic of singkil "Ang alamat ng Darangan"
Kuntay
The latest original piece of the group. Combining all the popular philippine folk dances into a one creative and solid choreography.
Kuntay means to dance to the flow nature.
