Shakira: Live In Abu Dhabi

Shakira: Live In Abu Dhabi is a concert by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira. The concert took place on December 31, 2008, as apart of "La Rumba!" at the Emirates Palace Hotel. John Lickrish, Managing Director of Flash stated, “We are delighted to be welcoming Shakira to Abu Dhabi for the first time, and with our new La Rumba party-arena of UAE bars and DJs as well as the fantastic outdoor setting of the Emirates Palace, there’s going to be something for everyone at this late night New Year’s Eve Party." Many felt that the concert was canceled after Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, called off all celebrations in respect to the violence occurring in Gaza. However, the concert went on as planned. The concert became a massive success, selling over 12,000 tickets. The success of the concert will continue to bring international acts to perform in that region.
