SGRainbow

SGRainbow is a non-profitable independent GLBT youth social group in Singapore. Its aim is to have youths accept themselves for who they are (self acceptance), grow as individuals in the society and advocating rights. This is reflected in the tagline, Self.Growth.Realise.

SGRainbow was founded in June 2008 by 2 gay and lesbian youth who wanted their voices to be heard in the community. This comes in the forms of a blog. It was previously called therainbowlifestyle and went under a huge revamp in January 2009. It was then re-branded as SGRainbow. In March 2009, SGRainbow goes beyond online to reach out to the youths. Headed by one of the earlier members, SGRainbow is now both an online portal and offline group.

AbOUT the name

The name SGRainbow suggest that there is a rainbow group in Singapore. However there were speculations that the name doesn't suggest it is a youth group.

Members

It currently has 6 members running the offline group and 2 running the online group. The offline group is divided into departments; namely Creative, Marketing and Human Resource. These 3 departments are the most important in any organisation. There is no leader in the group and decisions are made on a unanimous vote.

The online group manages the facebook as well as the portal. The portal includes social news which may affect youths indirectly or directly.

Vision and Mission

Vision: SGRainbow aims to be Singapore's leading gay, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered (GLBT) youth group advocating our rights, self acceptance, and acceptance of GLBT youth in this society.

Mission: To provide a platform for GLBT youth - giving room for self acceptance, grow as individuals in the community, and to raise awareness of our existence and rights in the society.

Ambassador Hunt

The Ambassador Hunt (AH) is a new initiative by SGRainbow to showcase the talents of youths and ultimately to find the face to represent the group.
