SevenOne International is the worldwide programming distribution company of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, the pan-European media companies, which is represented in 13 countries with 26 commercial TV stations, 24 premium Pay TV channels and 22 radio networks. SevenOne International offers TV events, mini-series, TV movies, telenovelas, long-running series, magazines and entertainment formats. SevenOne International also markets programs from third parties.

Besides productions of the group-owned channels, SevenOne International cooperates with a number of renowned independent production companies. In both inhouse and outside productions, SevenOne International focuses on TV and video sales and their ancillary rights in the European, Asian, and North and South American markets. Besides its existing sales potential in such established markets as France, Spain, Italy, Scandinavia, and the Benelux countries, SevenOne International has also directed its attention to further expanding the lucrative growth markets of China and Eastern Europe. In addition, SevenOne International is also playing an increasing role as an investor And Co-producer. SevenOne International concentrates on marketing both in-house and third-party productions for distribution on television and video, along with ancillary rights.

The company was founded in September 2004 and is headquartered in Munich, Germany. Managing Director is Jens Richter.

History

The subsidiary was established in the fall of 2004. The managing director of SevenOne International, Jens Richter, has more than fifteen years' experience in the media industry behind him. He was previously employed at Beta Film, Munich, where he functioned as managing director in charge of the worldwide distribution of free/pay TV, home video and theatrical rights. Before then he served as senior vice president at Prisma Sports & Media, London. Prisma Sports & Media handles the Soccer World Cup and the Wimbledon tennis tournament. Richter has a degree in business administration.

The events of SevenOne International include the action thriller “Crash Point: Berlin” (original: Crashpoint Berlin) by the Hager Moss, where a plane is on the verge of crashing into downtown Berlin.

A mysterious weather phenomenon threatens the life of pilot Andrea in the catastrophe movie “Cloud Chasers” (original: “Entscheidung in den Wolken”) by Caligari Film productions.

“Rabbit Without Ears” (original: “Keinohrhasen”) by barefoot films was one of the most successful movies at the box office in Germany in 2008. It drew over six million people into the theatres and won the Bambi award for the best German-speaking movie.

Telenovelas

The modern-day fairy telenovela Anna Anna und die Liebe tells the story of shy Anna. Anna is following the success of the previous telenovelas That’s Life “Verliebt in Berlin” by Grundy UFA, which was sold to nine countries, and Love is in the Air (“Schmetterlinge im Bauch”), which has run or his currently airing in seven countries across Europe. Anna and Love is in the Air are both productions of Producers at Work.

Series

The action series Special Unit (original: GSG 9, produced by Typhoon) is on air in 79 countries including Latin America (A&E), Japan, China, France and Italy.

Beat your host

Beat Your Host! and Beat the Star! are the international equivalent of BRAINPOOL’s and RAAB TV’s Schlag den Raab, where one audience-selected candidate and host Stefan Raab duel each other in up to 15 games from various fields – may it be sports, quiz show or games requiring the candidates’ cleverness. The winner takes home at least half a million Euros, but with every time the host wins, the jackpot increases by another 500.000 Euros. The show’s debut was the most successful in the German television market during the last four years, constantly reaching audience shares between 15 and 20 percent overall and 30 percent above 14- to 49-year-olds. The format has won the Golden Camera as well as the German Television Award. The show has aired in eight countries so far. In the UK it is called Beat the Star (on ITV 1), since it is not the host, but changing celebrities like nine-time Wimbledon champion Martina Navratilova, which stand in the way of the candidate’s triumph. In Sweden the show is known as Vem kan sla Filip och Fredrik, where the candidate is facing the competition of two hosts.

The Successor - The Next Uri Geller

Produced by Kuperman Productions and Keshet Broadcasting,The Successor was the most successful program in Israeli television history with an audience share of over 50 percent. As the panel judge world renowned phenomenon Uri Geller searches for the country’s next great mentalist in a talent show format. In addition, the show features Uri Geller’s interaction with the audience at home, presenting spectacular experiments like mentally bending spoons or starting broken watches. Among several other countries, the show also aired on NBC in the United States.

Schiller Street

The unique concept of a sitcom without a script is the format of Schiller Street(original: “Schillerstraße” by Hurricane Productions), which won the German Comedy Award, the German Television Award for Best Comedy and the Golden Camera. Consisting of improv-comedy on the one hand, but still following a storyline on the other, has kept the format fresh for over 100 episodes in Germany until today. Clueless Genius

Clueless Genius features a panel of well-known comedians trying to spontaneously answer scientific questions, which have been sent in by the television audience. If they don’t succeed, the questioner wins a cash prize. Amongst others, the show has won the German Comedy Award as well as the German Television Award.
