Serie A1 (volleyball)
The Serie A1 (Italian: ) or LegaVolley is a professional volleyball league that is governed by FIPAV (Italian Volleyball Federation). The overall level of the competition is considered the highest in Europe. The A1 Series is the highest category in the Italian men's volleyball league. The winner of the tournament is elected Campione d'Italia and gets the right to bring the Scudetto on its uniform. It has been held since 1977, when the Italian Volleyball Federation opted for the division of Serie A in A1 and A2; collects fourteen teams and is organized by the Men's Serie A Volleyball League according to the directives of the FIPAV.

SuperLega is the highest level club competition in Italian professional male volleyball. It is organized by Federazione Italiana Pallavolo (FIPAV) and Lega Pallavolo Serie A. It was known as Serie A between 1946 and 1977, then as Serie A1 until 2014.
Since 1982, the championship consists of two phases:
- a round-robin tournament (regular season) which picks out the clubs admitted to the second phase and the teams destined to relegation;
- a playoff tournament, which assigned the trophy.
Just in few occasions relegation playouts were disputed.
