Seal of Azad Kashmir

The state Seal of Azad Kashmir was adopted in 1975 and symbolizes the state's ideological foundation, the basis of its heritage and its guiding principles. The components of the emblem are a crescent and star crest above a shield, which is surrounded by a wreath, below which is a scroll. The crest and the green colour of the emblem are traditional symbols of Islam. The shield in the centre shows mountains, and the maple leaf, which is reflective of the abundance of this tree within the state and signifies the flora and landscape of the state. The floral wreath, surrounding the shield, is the Rhododendron (the State flower) and represents the floral designs used in traditional Kashmiri art and emphasizes the cultural heritage of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The scroll supporting the shield contains the motto in Urdu, which reads from right to left: () translated as "Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council."
