Sarita Kaushik

Sarita Kaushik (born 2 September 1971) is an Indian journalist and television news editor. She is the Executive Editor of ABP Majha, a Marathi news channel of ABP Group. She has worked in print, television and digital journalism across Marathi, Hindi and English media. With over 25 years of experience in print, television, and digital media, she is recognized as one of the first women to hold a senior editorial leadership role within the Marathi television news industry.Throughout her career, she has covered beats including state politics, crime, governance, and internal security, and has contributed to the editorial direction of various public affairs reports.

Early life and education

Born in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Kaushik was raised in a family with a background in literature and the performing arts; her father, Gopal Kaushik, was a musician and composer, and her mother, Asha Kaushik, was a professor of Marathi literature.

Kaushik completed a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), and Bachelor of Mass Communication. She later studied media in the United States through The Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship.

Career

Kaushik began her journalism career in 1997 with The Hitavada in Nagpur as a sub-editor and reporter. In 2000 she joined The Times of India, Ahmedabad, as a sub-editor-[...]-reporter. She later worked at Hindustan Times as senior reporter and editorial coordinator. She subsequently served as Vidarbha Bureau Chief at Hindustan Times. before joining ABP Group in 2008 as Maharashtra Bureau Chief.

She later became Deputy Executive Editor and Channel Head of ABP Majha, and in December 2024 was appointed Executive Editor of the channel. Her reporting has covered politics, internal security, civic administration, health and social issues.

Television and media work

Kaushik launched the primetime programme Zero Hour on ABP Majha, a news discussion programme incorporating social and historical perspectives.
