Sam Borchers

Ohio born track and cross country athlete, born May 25, 1988 to Jerome and Threasa Borchers, he has been an standout track runner since his first state title in 2005 sophomore year with a time of 4:17.55 in the 1600meters (1). He continued his success winning two more State Titles the following year in the 800 and 1600meter events (2) But it wasn’t until later that year that he was launched onto the national scene running a 3:46.32 1500 meter at the USA Junior National Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis, the 2nd fastest time by a high school runner that year.(3) Senior year Samuel won Div3. Ohio State title in Cross Country, then once again repeating with titles in the 1600 and 800 events in track, and adding a state title in the 4x800 with teammates Andy Peters Evan Firestone and Alexis Onfroy-Curley, together they set a new Div 3 State record in the 4x800 with a time of 7:48. Borchers also set State records that year in the 1600 and 800meter events, with the times of 4:10 and 1:51.** (4) Samuel finished his year off with a victory at the 2007 Nike Outdoor Nationals meet in North Carolina in the mile with a winning time of 4:03.33.(5) The fastest time ran by a high school athlete in the mille that year. (6) Samuel is currently enrolled and competing for PSU.
