Saloom Furniture Company

Saloom Furniture Company is a Winchendon, Massachusetts-based manufacturer of American-made dining room furniture that distributes its products to retailers throughout the United States and Canada. The company's exponential growth has been noted by the Inc. 500.

Saloom's dining tables, chairs and case pieces are manufactured using mostly maple and cherry hardwoods and granite stone. The manufacturer specializes in contemporary, transitional and country dining room furnishings.

History

Founded in 1982, Saloom Furniture has grown to be Winchendon's largest employer with of manufacturing space in its central Massachusetts location.

The company was founded by Peter and Linda Saloom, husband and wife. It was originally run out of Peter Saloom's father's basement in Newburyport, Massachusetts. From there, the company grew dramatically throughout the 1980s and 1990s, making the Inc. 500 fastest-growing companies list three years in a row in the early 90s. In 1993, Saloom had a four-year growth rate of 563%. The company's revenue had jumped to $7.6 million in 1992 from just $1.1 million in 1988.

In 2010, Saloom Furniture launched the Peter Francis line, a contemporary furniture line, and Skyline, whose furniture is scaled for urban living spaces. As of 2011, the company is still run by Peter and Linda Saloom.
