Saepul Bahri Binzein

Saepul Bahri Binzein (born 14 August 1974) better known as Om Zein is a Greater Indonesia Movement Party politician who served as Regent of Purwakarta for the 2025–2030 term. He has served since 20 February 2025 after being inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto at State Palace, Jakarta.

In the Purwakarta Pilbup 2024, he is running as Regent of Purwakarta for the 2025–2030 term of office by partnering with Abang Ijo Hapidin. This candidate pair succeeded in winning by winning 251,998 votes or 48.48% of the total valid votes. These votes resulted in him being elected Regent of Purwakarta 2025–2030. In his candidacy for the 2024 Purwakarta Pilkada, he carries a vision of Purwakarta Istimewa which is similar to the jargon that emerged in the era of Dedi Mulyadi.

Early life

Born in Subang on 14 August 1972 and raised in a religious family environment. He grew up in an Islamic boarding school. Successfully obtained a bachelor's degree in Islamic Religion (S.Ag.) from STAI Miftahul Huda.

Education

He began his education at SDN Simpar 2, where he studied basic science from 1980 to 1986. After graduating, he continued his secondary education at MTs Matlaul Anwar in 1986 and completed it in 1989.

Then Madrasah Aliyah at MAN Subang from 1989 to 1992. Then he continued to the Miftahul Huda Islamic College (STAI) and completed it in 1997.

Organization

He is an activist who has long been involved in the world of organizations in Purwakarta, West Java. Together with Dedi Mulyadi, he is active in HMI. He is known as the Secretary of the Purwakarta Branch of the Islamic Students Association (HMI) in the 1994-1995 period, he played an active role in developing cadres and strengthening the role of students in local socio-political dynamics during the New Order period leading up to the 1998 Reformation.

In the 2004-2007 period, he served as Chairman of the Purwakarta Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI).
