Saïd Amin
Saïd Amin (Sa-eed Ah-meen, born May 13, 1973) is a Seattle-based Iranian-American entrepreneur who is the owner of Iranian.com, founder of World Singles Networks and co-founder of TopTopic, a social-media startup.
Personal life
Amin was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1973. He moved to Paris, France with his mother in 1976 where she pursued her Ph.D. at the University of Paris (Sorbonne). Upon completing her studies they moved to the United States in 1981 and eventually settled in the Washington DC area. Amin graduated High School from St. Andrew's Episcopal in Potomac, Maryland and from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he earned his degree in International Affairs.
Amin is known to finish his emails with a “life is good” signature, is an avid traveler who has visited 20 countries, and recommend viewing relationships through the lens of a casting director. He is married to Saghar Siami. They met on IranianPersonals, a niche dating site owned by World Singles Networks.
Career
Amin, who founded World Singles Networks in 2001, is an early pioneer of the online personals business. The company, which has a portfolio of 20+ niche-focused online dating services, was among the first to air Farsi and Arabic commercials on national television.
Amin acquired majority interest in one of the earliest Internet publishing sites, Iranian.com, on April 24, 2012. Iranian.com, which was created as a blogging platform for the Iranian diaspora, published its first article in 1995.
Amin is currently the CEO of TopTopic, a Seattle-based social media startup that distinguishes itself by allowing members to monetarily reward each other for compelling content.
Philanthropy
After a trip to Palestine, where he attended the grand opening of the first and only public pediatric cancer department in the West Bank, Amin announced the launch of World Singles Networks' "iCare" initiative; an initiative intended to raise funds and awareness on behalf of charitable organizations and groups focusing especially on children’s issues.
Amin also serves on the Board of the National Iranian American Council, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the voice of Iranian Americans and promoting greater understanding between the American and Iranian people.
