Rubisco (band)
Rubisco is a successful cover band from NCSSM. The band is currently made up of the members Chuck Fort, Alex Hill, Krishna Karra, and Brian Koepnick. The band does cover songs of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, U2, OK Go, The Who, Steely Dan, Dire Straits, The Wonders, Poison, Yes, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Jet and Boston. They also have made a few tracks of their own, including "State of Mind" which features a violin solo by a Scott Laird on the album.
Beginning
Rubisco first started as a side project of Chuck Fort and Alex Hill when they were juniors at NCSSM in 2005-2006. Together, they created their first single, "Close to Time". After a brief hiatus, at the start of their senior year, Chuck and Alex, along with their close friend Krishna Karra, found a musically talented junior, Brian Koepnick, and started the band Rubisco.
Fame
Originally, the group only knew a few songs, and mainly consisted of jam sessions to waste time. They played their first concert at the NCSSM Koffeehaus, a talent night where local student can show off whatever they want. Their first performance was a big hit, and they continued to play at the Koffeehauses for the rest of the year, learning more and more songs.
They played at the end of the year pizza party bash for NCSSM at Broad Street Cafe with a record number of fans at the event, and their first real venue outside of school.
The final Koffeehaus of the year at NCSSM proved to be a flop for Rubisco. Having equilization issues and forgetting lyrics, the quartet's original numbers, such as Candyland, were unsuccessful in comparison to their covers. Alex Hill was especially displeased with the performance. This was Rubisco's last performance.
Future
It is unknown what will become of Rubisco during the summer of 07 and on, but rumor has it that the band will most likely break up and go their separate ways in college. Possible talks of reunion concerts are very likely.
