Everafter

Everafter was an Emo punk band originating out of Greensboro, North Carolina. They formed in the fall of 2000, got signed shortly after, released their first (and only) album Fading Into Bright on October 29, 2002 and broke up in 2003.

History

The Formation

Everafter began as a side project for the members of the band Years Apart based out of Winston Salem, NC. The Everafter side project was in search of a female vocalist. This side project had already had a lead singer, but wanted a female voice for a bit of a different sound from everything else that was out there. In the Fall of 2000, Ashley Smith went to a Years Apart show with her friend, who happened to be dating the lead singer. Ashley's friend told Years Apart that she was a singer and would be a good possibility for the female vocalist they were in search of for their side project. Ashley was asked to sing a song as an audition. She sang "Who Will Save Your Soul" by Jewel which granted her an invite to jam in order to see how her vocal stylings could/would mesh with the instrumental stylings of the group. And thus, Everafter was born.

The signing

Circa April 2002, Everafter's demo is heard by someone at GoodGuy Records. GoodGuy Records signs Everafter promising tour dates, etc. The deal turned out to be completely bogus and in May Everafter signed with Tribunal Records. Everafter immediately began recording that Summer.

After The Release of their first album with Tribunal Records, Everafter was featured as the 'Editor's Pick' in Smother Magazine

The breakup

Over the next year, Everafter had many tour dates. Life on the road proved to be much more stressful than expected as many unforeseen issues arose. In late 2003, sadly, the band split up due to these issues.
