Royal Plaza on Scotts is a hotel located on Scotts Road within the Orchard Road area of Singapore. The hotel has 15 floors and a total of 511 rooms.

Royal Plaza on Scotts is owned by Sajahtera Investments (S) Pte Ltd, which also has business interests in property and real estate investment and management.

History

Royal Plaza on Scotts first opened in 1974 as the Holiday Inn Hotel Singapore. In 1980, the name was changed to Holiday Inn Singapore. In 1985, it became Royal Holiday Inn Singapore. The name was changed to Royal Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza in 1990. After 7 years, the name was changed to Royal Crowne Plaza. Its current name of Royal Plaza on Scotts was introduced in 1 December 1999.

The hotel has completed several renovations in recent years. From 2006 to 2007, there were major renovations in all of Royal Plaza on Scotts’ rooms. In 2009, all of its suites were renovated.

Facilities

The hotel has a swimming pool, fitness centre, eight function rooms, a business centre, and two food & beverages outlets. One of its food & beverages outlets is Carousel, which typically provides buffet meals. Heat Ultralounge, located on the second floor, is the second food & beverage outlet, and provides live music in the evening.

Royal Plaza on Scotts is a halal hotel, with its restaurants following halal food standards. It is also a 100% non-smoking hotel.

Awards

Royal Plaza on Scotts has won travel awards, including being voted ‘Best Independent Hotel’ by TTG Travel Awards in 2009 and 2008.
