Romeet K Watt
Romeet K Watt (born January 10, 1975) is a Pune based strategic and political analyst.
He is currently Chief Editor, KashmirTelegraph.com.
He has written extensively on the Kashmir issue in particular and other pertinent issues in south Asia in general. Romeet also heads the non-profit, public policy, think-tank, Kashmir Bachao Andolan (literal translation: Movement to Save Kashmir)
Early life
Romeet K Watt was born in Srinagar in a prominent Kashmiri Pandit family. He is the grandson of veteran freedom fighter, Late Shyam Lal Watt, close associate and confidant of Sheikh Mohd Abdulla, the first elected representative of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He studied at Burn Hall School, Srinagar, and graduated from Government College of Engineering, Pune
Career
Romeet K Watt established KashmirTelegraph.com and Kashmir Bachao Andolan in the year 2002.
As a strategic and political analyst, Romeet has scores of published articles in various national and international newspapers, journals, and magazines, providing fresh perspectives on a range of issues. From Indian concerns on so-called Kashmir issue and cross-border [...] to American foreign policy in South Asia and Maoist insurgency in Nepal, he is known for his no-nonsensical news-analysis / articles / opinions, with his articulations donning the opinion pages of well-known print and virtual media publications.
His articles have appeared in newspapers / magazines ranging from the reputed Indian Express, Daily Excelsior, Asia Times, Greater Kashmir and the News (International), Pakistan to Seminar Magazine, Mid Day, Kashmir Times, Free Press Journal, Kashmir Images and the Frontier Post, Pakistan, to name a few.
He has been one of the few journalists covering the political economy of Kashmir / Pakistan, who has consistently asked the tough questions, with a consistent endeavour to make a bold attempt at creating a very wholesome read on an array of issues in the sub-continent.
