Romanian Consulate General, Zaječar

The Consulate General of Romania in Zaječar () is a consulate general of Romania to Serbia.

Romania established the consulate general in December 2004. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania had reiterated Romania's interest in the opening of the consulate general until January 2012, when the Serbian government approves opening of the General Consulate of Romania in Zaječar. The Consulate was the case of numerous bilateral negotiations, and until January 2012 Serbia had adamantly refused to approve opening the consulate in the region in which a big Romanian community lives. Prime Minister of Serbia decision was published in “Official Gazette” (“Službeni glasnik”). The Prime Minister of Serbia took the decision just before the vote of the General Affairs Council which decided if Serbia is a candidate country, a major step in the accession of Serbia to the European Union.
