Datto Backup, Inc. is a Connecticut (U.S.) company that provides hardware-based on- and off-site backup solutions for business continuity planning and disaster recovery.

Overview

Datto was founded in 2007 and since then has maintained a 300% annual growth rate. As of December 1, 2012 Datto is managing over 20 petabytes of data off-site between Datto's east and west coast data centers which comprise Datto's cloud. Datto employs 125 full time employees between their two locations in Wilton and Norwalk, CT. Datto's technical support, development, and sales operations are run from the Norwalk, CT site and device assembly is performed in the Wilton, CT site.

Products

Datto SIRIS™

Datto's flagship product line is the SIRIS™ business continuity solution. The Datto SIRIS™ offers local and off-site virtualization directly from Datto's cloud as well as screenshot verification of backups. Since each backup is a virtual machine (VM), the SIRIS™ device boots up the VMs and takes a screenshot to help verify the integrity of the backup. Datto SIRIS™ is offered in sizes ranging from 500GB models to 40TB models and supports bare metal restoration, and export to VMDK and VHD virtualization disk formats.

Datto SIRIS Lite™

Datto's SIRIS Lite™ offers all the same features as the Datto SIRIS™ product line for a reduced price by not offering hosting for local virtualization. However, off-site virtualization from Datto's cloud is supported.

Datto G-Series™

Datto's G-Series™ offers up to 10TB worth of local and secure cloud storage to be used by any backup software.

Notable Events

  • February 10, 2012 Datto negotiated a deal with C7 Data Centers in Salt Lake City, UT to become the new west coast data center replacing a previous location in San Diego, CA.
  • December 19, 2011 Datto announced its partnership with Continuum, formerly known as Zenith RMM, to provide Continuum with Datto's products and cloud infrastructure.
  • October 7, 2011 Datto launches an online blog for the IT Channel and Beyond.
  • September 27, 2011 StorageCraft and Datto partnered to create the ShadowSnap™ Agent to be run on machines protected by Datto SIRIS™ and SIRIS Lite™ product lines.
  • June 5, 2012 Datto GenISIS™ is launched providing a path to upgrade existing BDR hardware to the Datto SIRIS™ platform.
  • June 19, 2012 Datto Academy launched< providing an interactive training site with optional in-person training.
