Roberto Sahade
Roberto Sahade (born May 29, 1976) is a Brazilian business man, founder of GMR Energia group, a family corporation, with investments in power generation in Latin America, mainly Brazil, Chile and Perú.
Of Lebanese descent, he is the son of Moukbel Roberto Sahade, Brazilian entrepreneur in construction and real estate development sectors, and Ana Maria Spina Sahade, dentist.
Graduated as civil engineer at Fundação Armando Alváres Penteado – FAAP, in 1998, and obtained his MBA from IBMEC-SP, in 2001. Has also done postgraduate studies at Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, in 2007, and at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, in 2011 and 2017, both in the United States, and Insead, Fontainebleau Campus, in 2009, in France.
Currently, is in charge of GMR Energia (2004), holding company with investments in CPFL Renováveis, in Brazil, and LAP – Latin America Power, in Chile and Peru.
Career
Before graduating as a civil engineer, had already joined the family business activities. After founding the GMR group, started the expansion of the business in real estate, 1998, and in renewable power generation, 2004.
In 2007 created ERSA, currently CPFL Renováveis, publicly traded company on Bovespa, in partnership with Pátria Investimentos, Eton Park, Bradesco and DEG (KFW), and moreover, joined BTG Pactual. This company today is the largest renewable power generation in Latin America, with small hydro, wind, biomass and solar technologies. Was in charge until the end of 2011.
This same year, 2011, founded LAP – Latin America Power, a renewable power company with operations in Chile and Peru, corporation capitalized by the former partners BTG Pactual and Pátria/Blackstone. Was in charge until the June 2017.
