Roamware
Roamware, Inc. is a provider of voice and data roaming solutions and mobile financial services. Founded in 2002, Roamware is a privately held company headquartered in San Jose, California led by CEO Bobby Srinivasan. Roamware has regional offices in Amman, Brussels, Bangalore, Dublin, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Singapore.
Roaming is an extension of mobile service in an area other than the location in which the service is registered. It allows a wireless device to remain connected to its home network when the subscriber is travelling outside of the home network. Roaming is especially relevant in Europe because of the open nature of travel within the EU and around the world for mobile subscribers living in countries with vast geographical area and limited network coverage to stay connected.
Roamware's carrier-grade platform provides operators a value chain of roaming solutions. With nearly five billion mobile subscriptions globally and an increased demand for real-time data streaming, seamless connectivity while roaming is becoming more important.
Mobile connectivity has vastly improved around the world and spurred innovation in a variety of new mobile applications including personal financial transactions. The rise of mobile financial services is one example of this. Residents of developing countries are using mobile phones for financial transactions in the absence of local bank branches or ATMs. Industrialized countries are also embracing mobile financial services. A 2010 Lafferty Group study found that by the end of the decade, 55% of banking transactions and 45% of account sales will take place online. Juniper Research predicts there will more than 400 million mobile banking users in the world by 2013.
Roamware’s mobile financial suite provides suite offerings for banks, mobile operators and non-banking financial institutions.
