History

Roadfly was founded in 1997 with the purpose and intention of Providing a resource for owners, buyers, sellers and enthusiasts of various makes and models of automobiles. Today, Roadfly attracts a wide array of web users interested in learning more AbOUT cars.

1997 - Roadfly began as three distinct sites: a BMW portal site, a Porsche portal site, known as "porschezone.com" and a BMW message board, affectionately known as "bimmer.org." The sites served as information repositories, and offered readers services such as: Events calendars, Links, Message Boards, News, and Resources.

August 2000 - Roadfly merged its three individual sites into a single venue. Enhancements were made to the site to improve navigation, user experience and performance.

In early 2001, due to legal reasons, Roadfly had to stop using the porschezone.com and bimmer.org domain.

June 2001 - Roadfly received its first cosmetic overhaul, and along with the revised look came additional functionality by way of a classified sales system, search capabilities and new featured brands, including Jaguar and Lotus.

September 2003 - Roadfly.com underwent another cosmetic improvement to help further improve the user experience. During this phase, the site was modified to give users easier, more direct access to Roadfly's magazine, vehicle reviews, buying guides and other resources. Featured and "spotlight" vehicles were given front page promotion. A second generation search engine was designed to provide faster, more accurate results.

Towards the end of 2005, Roadfly discountinued its free e-mail service, therefore those who did not hold a subscription had their accounts deleted.
